Our weekend....in pictures

Sister had a stylin pony tail the other day.  It was too cute not to take a picture of her with it.

Thanks to the snow dumping Mother Nature gave us the last few days, my boys got to help Grandpa Larry plow the snow off the driveway.  They were sad that I didn't let them stay until the entire job was done.

Sister is loving her big girl car seat.  She can look out the window AND torment her big brother!  We got her some new teething rings the other day because she's working on two new teeth and her gums are sore!

This was Friday afternoon on my way to North Logan.  I giggled when I looked back there and saw them both passed out.  I was glad I had my camera on me so I could snap a picture when I stopped!

We had a bunch of good packing snow on Saturday morning.  The boys were so excited to go out and play in it.  They were even more excited when they realized that the snow balls they were making were going to stay put together!  They stock piled snow balls and then Nash proceeded to let loose on Caleb.  Caleb just sat there "like a duck in the pond at the fair" in my mother's words.  It was, admittedly, rather silly to sit and watch.  The look on Caleb's face was priceless - too bad I didn't catch it in a picture!

I took the kids to church today.  It was the first time we've been since about Thanksgiving.  Yes, someone has been sick every single week since then!  I finally had healthy kids though, so we braved it!  After church was over I took the kids down to my mom's house and made her take our picture.  The last pictures I have of us all dressed up for church (that aren't for a baptism or blessing) are from when Caleb was about Brookelyn's age!

I bought this dress for Brooke at Kohl's a little while back.  I LOVE it and love that I got it on clearance for rather cheap.  The kids were calling it her cow dress because it's black and white, like a cow.  Caleb got a funny look on his face and looked at me.  "Mom!  It's not a cow dress!  Cows DON'T have pink on them." Good point dude, good point!  I still think she looked adorable though!

She's looking more like her big sister did at this age every day!

I came across this blog while reading the news on ksl.com.  I think it looks like a good blog and will add it to my links list.  Check it out for yourself though:

The Lorax

Friday Samantha decided she wanted to spend the night at her friend Samantha's house.  So, I decided I'd take the boys and Brooke out and do something fun.  Mind you, I tried to get SIX different people to go with me before I decided to quit calling people so I could feel rejected.

I thought it would be fun to go to The Pizza Pie Cafe for dinner and then to see The Lorax.  Nash wasn't too big on the idea of The Pizza Pie Cafe because they didn't have plain old cheese pizza there.  So, he picked Sizzler instead.  In the three years Travis has been working at Halliburton, I don't recall ever taking my children out to a sit down restaurant for dinner without another adult with me.  Especially not just the younger ones!  Surprisingly, they were better behaved than they have been in a long, long time!  I told the boys if they ate all their dinner I'd buy them one of those kid trays at the theater too.  What do you know?  They ate their dinner better than I've seen them eat in ages!

I had bought our tickets for the 6:45 show as people were going in for the 4:30 show.  I was glad I had.  We got back to the theater about 20 minutes before the movie was to start.  We got the boys their kid trays and had to wait in line to get into the theater!  Caleb was positive he needed "movie glasses."  Apparently, the last movie we must have taken him to had to have been a 3D movie.  I kept telling him to look at everyone else, no one else is wearing glasses.  The smart little monkey looks right at me and says, "You are."  Duh mom.  I tried to explain that I was wearing my glasses I wear every single day!  He ended up trying to sneak out of the theater THREE different times to find glasses!  I told him if there were glasses I'd be more than happy to get him glasses, but there are in fact, NO GLASSES!  At the end of the movie he was still kinda put out that he didn't get glasses!

Other than Caleb trying to sneak out of the theater three different times, they did really well.  Brooke sat on my lap and watched the whole thing.  Not even too many wiggles from little sister!  I was amazed.  I thought she'd be jumping all over the place getting her groove on!

I was worried that Hollywood would really mess this classic story up.  Much to my delight, they did not.  Sure, they added a few things, but overall it was just about spot on.  We loved it!  I will be buying this when it comes out on DVD.

I was impressed that the kids were so well behaved.  And, Mother Nature was even kind enough to wait for the snow dump until after we got home!  If you haven't taken your kids to see this one, I'd highly recommend you go!

I really, really like these high button on the side ones!  I love that I can choose the color.  The website does say they run about a size small so to get one size bigger than your usual shoe size.  I think I might have to get these!  I love them!

Brooke causes mischief, Sister's mad num-chuck skills & Literacy Night

Who needs a teething ring when you can chew on mom's photo paper package?

Why is mom laying on the floor with the camera?  Oh!  Let me see!

I choose the pink one...again!

I like Rapunzel!

Little Sister has some mad num-chuck skills!

How terrible is it that I'm willing to bust out this costume for Literacy Night at the school, but if she asked me to do it for Halloween I couldn't say I'd be as willing to do it?  Cursed pattern, good thing she looks cute.  Stupid me...I'm think I'd be an awesome Queen of Hearts, Caleb could go as the King, Brooke could be the white rabbit & Nash could be a card man for Halloween....crap.  I think I've found our Halloween costumes.  Better get on that.

My easy child that agreed to go as Darth Vader - a costume we already had and he was worn many times.

Literacy Night at the school.  Like the look Brooke gives me every time she sees my camera lately?

Can you see how swollen little sister's top gums are?  She's working on those two front top teeth!  Her mouth was actually bleeding a bunch earlier this day.

Nash singing with the first graders at the beginning of Literacy Night.

Literacy Night was fun (for the kids).  They (with the exception of Brooke) each got a free book.  Nash sung with the first grade.  Sam gave her book talk.  Sam convinced me to buy her a copy of the book her class had read (Unicorn Quest I think).  The author was there selling/signing books.  She read it in class and really liked it, but had to miss parts when she came to my class once a week!  Silly girl!

The Beuners (spell?) were suppose to be there as well.  I purchased A Job for Watilda and The Escape of Marvin the Ape.  They are going to be signed by the authors.  These books were books my Grandma Lea got for my brother and sister when they were little.  I remember how much they loved them.  My kids have read Escape of Marvin the Ape at my mom's house and really liked it.  Due to the weather they ended up not coming.  They will come at a later date though and we will get our autographed books then.

One of the ladies I taught with at Adams Elementary (Mrs. Torres, ESL) was there.  She has written a book!  She was reading her book to kids.  She had puppets and a song that went along with it too.  I can honestly say that once I had a death grip on Caleb on my lap and he was holding a puppet, it was the best behaved he was the entire night!

I saw several ladies that I know and got to talk to them (RS President, Nash's friend's mom, Sam's friend's mom, etc).  My poor RS President about died when I told her about the week we'd had!  When we were leaving the school they were giving out ice cream sandwiches for a treat.  Funny to me because it was a snow blizzard as we were leaving!

Even though it was a really, really long day (didn't get home until nearly 9 and it was the first time we'd been home since we left for school/work) the kids had a lot of fun and I'm glad I took them.

I'm hoping next week is going to be better than this week has been.  However, I do realize that I have to get my very first cavity EVER fixed, Brooke and Nash are getting tubes (and Brooke's adenoids out), I have another Relay for Life meeting, AND Sam is performing at the Caprielle Review on Friday night.  Let's hope that it's not quite as disastrous as this week has been seeing how Travis will be home to shoulder half the burden!

Happy Friday!
