I didn't realize I still had pictures on my camera from nearly 2 weeks ago that I hadn't downloaded! I will warn you, this is a very, very long post!
Mother's Day weekend we went out to Travis's parent's house. We celebrated Nash's birthday (again) and just had a fun dinner with cousins.
Little Sister LOVED her Chocolate Peanut Butter Hi Hat Cupcake!
On Mother's Day all three of my boys got up and made me "cowboy cakes" for breakfast!
This is the hanging basket I got from my in laws. They always give me a hanging basket. I'm always terrified I'll kill it too! For some reason I can grow things in the ground, but you put them in a pot & everything changes!
It's kinda hard to see in this picture, but my in laws also gave me a metal flower! I've been wanting one of these for ages! I was so excited!
On Friday, May 18 the kids' school had a carnival (PTA Fundraiser). Samantha had gone home with her friend Samantha after school. Yes, I said that right. Apparently they went down to the carnival. When I picked her up, she had this killer stache. I told her she obviously spends way, way, way too much time with her Uncle Zacc!
On Saturday, May 19 Sam & Jade had their end of the year dance recital. Jade spent the night at our house Friday because I volunteered to take her to dress rehearsal (my sister does not do well in high stress situations with multiple small children). My parents kept my boys so I had these two goofballs & B.
Going on 18 I'm afraid!
My "BFF" (as the kids call her), Laura, came to the recital with us. Afterwards we stopped at my parent's house to pick up the boys. They had conned Grandma Terri into letting them have a sleepover. Earlier in the day Grandpa Larry took them fishing down on the river. I'm not going to lie, I was nervous. Last time him & Nash went down there, Grandpa ended up floating in the river & the dog had to drag him out. Fortunately for me, no one was in need of a life jacket AND Caleb caught his very first fish on the river! He was so excited! My mom sent me a picture of him with it on my phone and she had kept it in the sink until we got there.
On Monday, May 21st Nash had his first grade play at school. This year they did Little Red Riding Hood (with a twist of course). Nash was a squirrel - pretty fitting isn't it. He's holding up his tail in case you're wondering. He was so excited and has practiced hard for his play. I have 3 videos on my camera that I'm hoping I can upload. They did a silly little squirrel dance in the middle of the play too. Unfortunately, his squirrel hat is made of fleece and the gym was extra warm. After Nash did his part the hat came off & he was tossing it up in the air and catching it until both his teacher & I gave him a dirty look!
The squirrel dance
Today, May 22nd, Caleb had a field trip for preschool. We rode the bus into Logan and went to Willow Park. Considering we had 21 kids and roughly 6 adults, we did pretty good. The only bad part was that on our way back the bus driver took a detour which caused us to miss the bus back to Hyrum which resulted in having to wait at the transit center for AN HOUR with FIFTEEN small children! Otherwise, the day was awesome and Caleb was absolutely, fantastically, well behaved. And yes, I can count on ONE HAND the amount of times I've used that phrase! His teacher, Miss Shannon, made them all their cute safari hats with their names on them as well as little snack bags AND a safari search booklet to check off the animals they found while on their safari at the zoo. She is AMAZING!
This little sister LOVES the swings. She'd swing all day if we'd let her. She gets her giggle on pretty dang fast once she realizes she's in the swing. I was shocked she didn't scream when I pulled her out of the swing.
Remember how I said Caleb's teacher is amazing? She also gave each of the 21 kids 2 dimes to buy food to feed the fish & ducks. Yep. Amazing! And, there were even baby ducks to feed!
We saw about six or seven peacocks. I've never seen that many out at the park in one day before.
I was glad when Bob finally fell asleep. She was so tired. She didn't get grouchy or anything, she just fell asleep in the stroller while we were looking for animals on our safari. Remember that amazing teacher of Caleb's? Yea, she even made stuff for the SIBLINGS! Yep. AMAZING!
Last night I was on the phone with Travis. Nash had come in the house and asked me to get him some strawberries and then walked into the bathroom. Since I didn't know how long he was going to be, I didn't move. He came out of the bathroom and went into the kitchen. His dad has told him repeatedly that he's old enough to reach the bowls in the cupboard, etc. I however have told him if he needs help to ask because I don't like him climbing on my counters. Apparently since I didn't move the first time he asked for strawberries, he assumed that meant I wasn't moving at all. So, without asking me for help or telling me he was out of the bathroom, he climbed up on the counter and started to get a bowl down. Now the cabinet that has the bowls happens to be just to the left of my stove. I had washed dishes earlier and my dish drainer was sitting on the edge of the counter so there wasn't a lot of counter space. All of the sudden I hear this very loud, very hard sounding thump. I turned around saw Nash splayed on the floor with half my cabinet door. I asked him what happened and he told me that he had started to fall so he grabbed onto the cabinet door. I then had the fabulous teaching opportunity to remind him this is exactly why mom is always telling him to stay off the counter! Fortunately he wasn't hurt other than a bruised knee cap. Unfortunately, my cabinet door now looks like this:
And it's driving me nuts because I keep thinking the cabinet is open & keep trying to shut the cabinet door!
Fortunately for us, one of Trav's friends is into cabinet making these days and he just so happens to work at a cabinet shop not too far from our house. While I was on the field trip with Caleb today Nick stopped by and picked up the cabinet door. Guess that means he thinks he can fix it! Question is, how long do you think it will take??
